K. C. is not sentiment, but science, don't fool yourself!

How to become a philosopher or a scientist ▪︎ Staying away from utopia or sahajya ▪︎ Krishna speaks only to pure devotee.

Srila Prabhupada insists and is repeating it two times in a row: "This is the greatest contribution of Srila Rupa Gosvami: how to become a devotee. It is not sentiment; it is science. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is a great science. It is not sentiment. If you take it as sentiment, then you will create disturbance. That is the instruction of Rūpa Gosvāmī."

"Without vijnana, science, without philosophy, to understand Kṛṣṇa is not possible. You can ask: 'Do you think that all the devotees are scientist and philosopher?' Yes. The answer is yes."

You! who is reading these lines, do you think that all the devotees taking initiation, and becoming brahmanas two years later, are scientists and philosophers? I say it straightforwardly: the idea of sudras, proletarians or peasants obtaining scientific and philosophical qualifications, by being raised artificially on the brahmanical platform after initiation, is impossible it is utopia.

We all have seen by experience over decades this fact, and adjusted our understanding. Well… I hope that older devotees are doing that; adjusting their understanding. Or starting to do so; it’s about time. By being honest and objectively intelligent, they can testify to the new generations how things really work. This way, we will develop our science and philosophy of varnasrama-dharma and Krishna consciousness, if this mission has any practical meaning.

"Yes", Prabhupada said. Then he argues and defends his own declaration, demonstrating his extreme idealistic view: "No, they have no degree of science or philosophy." And still... Because if you learn science and philosophy, you will have to approach some person who knows the science, knows the philosophy. But the greatest scientist, the greatest philosopher, is Kṛṣṇa. He is within your heart."

This is not what I have seen with my eyes, no one in our movement has become a scientist or a philosopher inspired by Paramatma. What I have seen, on the contrary, is that devotees are not attracted to these fields of knowledge, and most of them are not qualified to think by themselves, certainly not to be called like that.

Srila Prabhupada about speaking with Krishna

The theoretical conclusion is that only pure devotees of the highest rank can turn to Krishna for learning science and philosophy. Everyone else should approach qualified professors —and not be sentimental. Unless you are a pure devotee, according to Rupa Gosvami, don't fool yourself and others by thinking that Krishna is speaking to you directly.
