You should enjoy reading this account shared by Janananda Maharaj in London.* It highlights the effectiveness of preaching when a devotee wears a dhoti. In my opinion, a sannyasi or brahmacari should always adopt this attire, with a shaved head. However, I also believe there are many other equally valid approaches to preaching.

What caught my attention, as well as that of the devotees who commented on Maharaj’s text, is his reference to the store employee where he shops as “black” (the black salesgirl). This detail appears unnecessary and without any discernible purpose. I noted this peculiarity to draw a parallel with the example I provided about Bodayan Maharaj in Mirepoix, where he claimed not to distinguish between Muslims and Hindus.** 

These two examples illustrate contrasting and extreme attitudes from sannyasis of different congregations, yet both belong to the same lineage and share the same spiritual values. One represents ISKCON, while the other is associated with a branch of the Gaudiya Math. Regarding the practical and philosophical implications, I have already discussed the limitations of such social and moral stances, which require deeper examination to clarify the essence of Vaishnava doctrine.

Ce sont deux cas extrêmes et contradictoires venant de sannyases de congrégations différentes mais partageant la même filiation et les mêmes valeurs spirituelles; l'un est un représentant d'ISKCON, l'autre d'une branche de la Gaudya math. Pour ce qui est des conséquences pratiques et philosophiques, j'ai déjà abordé l'insuffisance de ces postures sociales et morales qui demandent à être approfondies pour une meilleure clarté de la doctrine vaisnave.
